The Story Behind the Song
Mr. Murph is more than just a mascot—he represents Oklahoma’s very first Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), a special place where recycling gets sorted, saved, and sent off to become something new.
At Mr. Murph’s facility, mixed recyclables like plastic, paper, and aluminum are separated by high-tech machines, smart robots, and quality control experts. Everything is sorted into giant bins and then baled up when full, ready to head to manufacturers who give these items a second life.
What makes Mr. Murph truly special? His automation! Thanks to advanced technology, Mr. Murph can recover up to 95% of the recyclables that come his way—and most of it stays right here in Oklahoma, creating jobs and boosting our local economy.
To help kids and families learn what Mr. Murph can and can’t eat, we teamed up with Hot Toast Music Company to create a catchy educational tune called “Feed Murph.”
Recorded at The Church Studio in Tulsa, the song makes recycling fun, memorable, and meaningful. It’s all part of our mission to build lifelong recycling habits and inspire the next generation to care for our planet—one bottle, can, and cardboard box at a time.
