What does American Waste and TRT do with a mountain of trash at the landfill? We’re turning it into energy to power over 4000 homes!

Get this…When trash breaks down, it releases methane gas. So, to capture that gas, we’ve drilled 40 some wells in a mountain of trash as it’s decomposing at the landfill.

Keep in mind, we are the only landfill in the Tulsa area, that does this. We collect that gas and convert it via three generators into electricity to power over 4000 homes around our landfill area.

Most people think, hey, you recycle, but you’re still discarding waste. The answer is yes, but it’s not dead. We are also taking the gas it creates and turning it into renewable energy.

It’s our way of squeezing every bit of use out of the disposal process while also benefitting our community.
